I was thinking today about some of the different blogs I read, and all the great writers out there. I quite love my list of links right now, by the way – all so interesting and perfectly inspiring and engrossing! Thank you for sharing your writing with me.
\nIn any case, many of these bloggers have written or are writing books. Real books! Books which might not yet have publishers, but which probably should. I love to write too, though I haven’t come even close to writing a book yet. Well, an interesting one, anyways! I’ve co-authored an instructional text for geography teachers … anyhow, back to the main point. I want to write. So do all these other really great writers, more experienced than I. Is there room for all these writers and books in the world? Aren’t we all in competition?<\/p>\n
Short answer: Yes and no!<\/p>\n
I read a lot. I read, on average, 1 – 3 books per week. Some I skim (mainly the non-fiction), but in general, I motor through books at a rapid pace. That means about 100+ books per year. And I need writers to write those books for me! Maybe only 10 of the bloggers I read have written books. That means that I would read all those books in only 1\/10th of my year of reading, and need 10x more writers to write the other books!<\/p>\n
It also means that maybe somewhere is an audience for the books I want to write.<\/p>\n
If you want to write, there are people who want to read. There’s room for all of us in this writing world, so let’s encourage each other, read what others write, and celebrate the successes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
